Welcome to The Quilted Witch. My name is Marni and I am your magical guide to all things quilted.
A bit about me…
I have been a long-arm quilter in the quilting and textile industry for the last 15 years and making quilts for about 23 years all up. I’ve worked in different fabric stores, quilting magazines and done various jobs including mattress making and pool cover assembly. I love to sew!
I’ve always been a bit on the witchy side of things and in the last little while I’ve decided to combine my love of sewing and all things magic into The Quilted Witch.
I hear you asking “what is a long-arm?”
A long-arm quilting machine is a large frame, mine is 12ft long, which has a travelling carriage where a straight stitch machine sits in a front on position. Controlling the machine with a set of hand grips, a few buttons and a really good light I walk side-to-side along the frame stitching the item that is mounted on the frame on a set of rollers. The machine is hand-guided, which means I am in control of what it stitches, I am drawing the designs with the machine.
My goal with The Quilted Witch is to support like-minded witch folk with my skills, to create a little more magic in this world and to enhance the beautiful items we already know and use in our workings.
